Upload Your File
To begin, simply upload the file you want to scan. AVScan.io accepts a wide variety of file types. The upload process is secure, fast, and easy to use. Once your file is uploaded, our system prepares the file for the scanning process.
File Sent to VirusTotal
After the file is uploaded, it is directly sent to VirusTotal via the VirusTotal API v3 for scanning. VirusTotal then checks the file against its extensive database of antivirus engines, performing both signature-based and behavioral analysis to detect potential threats.
Parsing & Displaying Scan Results
Once the file is scanned, the results are returned to AVScan.io. We parse this data to extract essential information such as detection names, threat scores, and the status of each antivirus engine's scan. This information is then beautifully displayed in the scan results for you to easily understand.
AI-Powered Threat Analysis
We don't stop at basic detection. We send key variables from the parsed data—such as detection names, the number of antivirus engines that flagged the file, the filename, and its hash—to Google Gemini AI for further analysis. The AI analyzes this data and provides additional insights into potential risks, helping to detect more subtle or evolving threats that might not be caught by traditional antivirus engines.
Results & Recommendations
After processing the data, you’ll receive a detailed report with the results of the scan, including:
- Antivirus Results: See how many antivirus engines flagged the file and which ones.
- AI Response: Get insights from the Google Gemini AI on the potential threat and further analysis.
- File Information: Details about the file, including its name, hash, and overall safety rating.
If a threat is detected, the report will suggest actionable steps you can take to mitigate the risks.
Caching for Faster Future Scans
AVScan.io employs intelligent caching for files that are frequently scanned. This ensures that repeat scans are much faster, as the system retrieves cached results for files that have already been analyzed. This provides a seamless experience, especially for commonly scanned files.
